Aligarh, September 2024: A two-day Hindi Diwas celebration was organized with great enthusiasm at Begum Azizun Nisa Hall, Aligarh Muslim University. The event featured two major competitions – Essay Writing and Poetry Recitation. The program was presided over by the Provost of the hall, Prof. Asiya Chaudhary.
In her address, she extended warm greetings on the occasion of Hindi Diwas and emphasized the significance of Hindi, highlighting that it is not only the official language of India but also one of the most widely spoken languages globally. She further mentioned that Hindi plays a vital role in representing India’s culture, and it is also a language of employment and commerce.
In the Poetry Recitation competition, the students impressed the audience with their oratory skills, reciting poems on themes like patriotism, love for Hindi, and women’s identity. Jahnvi (M.A.) won the first prize, Shaista Sana (Ph.D.) secured second place, and Umme Waraqah was awarded third place.
The Essay Writing competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from undergraduate, postgraduate, and research students. The topics were ‘The Future and Opportunities of Hindi Language’ for Ph.D. students and ‘The Global Status and Importance of Hindi’ for B.A. and M.A. students. Shaista Sana (Ph.D.) bagged the first prize, Rafat (B.Ed.) came second, and Shagufta Parveen secured third place.
The panel of judges for both competitions included Dr. Sana Fatima, Assistant Professor, Department of Hindi, AMU, and Dr. Neelofer Usmani, Assistant Professor, Women’s College, AMU. The event was conducted by Ms. Firdous, with Dr. Jyoti Kusumbal organizing the program and delivering the vote of thanks.
Also present at the event were Dr. Mohammad Iqbal Khan and Dr. Afsana Parveen, along with hall students and staff.
