Government Collects ₹24,000 Crore from Health Insurance Premiums of Common Indians, Criticised by INDIA Alliance

New Delhi, 06 August 2024– The Modi government has been criticized for collecting ₹24,000 crore from the health insurance premiums of millions of ordinary Indians. These individuals diligently save and pay their premiums every year to avoid being burdened by health crises in their lives.

The INDIA alliance has condemned the BJP government’s approach of seeking “tax opportunities” before every disaster, labeling it as an example of insensitive thinking.

In a statement, the INDIA alliance emphasized their opposition to this opportunistic mindset. They called for the exemption of health and life insurance from GST, stressing the necessity of making such insurance GST-free to support the common people of the country.

Modi government has completely become a ‘recovery government’. The government has told the Parliament that it has collected Rs 24,500 crore in 3 years by imposing GST on health insurance. This is a double blow for the people of the country already troubled by inflation and unemployment under the Modi government. This recovery in the name of health insurance shows that Narendra Modi does not care about the public. Modi is only concerned about his rich friends and he works for them only 24 hours a day.
