
Aligarh, March 24, 2025: The National Service Scheme (NSS) office at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) successfully organized an awareness program on the occasion of World Tuberculosis (TB) Day on March 24, 2025. The event, held under the leadership of Dr. Mohammad Mohsin Khan (Coordinator, NSS), along with Dr. Jitendra Kumar and Dr. Mohd Arsalan (Program Officers, NSS), aimed to educate the community about tuberculosis and its prevention.
Themed “Yes! We Can End TB: Commit, Invest, Deliver,” the program sought to spread awareness regarding TB, its treatment, and preventive measures. The event commenced with a campus-wide awareness procession, where students and faculty members carried placards and banners with slogans such as “End TB,” “Fight for a TB-Free World,” and “Together, We Can End TB.” The procession successfully engaged the public and emphasized the importance of early diagnosis and treatment.
The highlight of the event was an Experts’ Talk, featuring distinguished speakers such as Professor Mohammad Shamim and Dr. Mohammad Salman Shah, who provided in-depth insights into the latest advancements in TB diagnosis, treatment, and eradication strategies. Their discussions shed light on the significance of early detection, government initiatives, and community involvement in combating TB.
The program witnessed enthusiastic participation from NSS student volunteers, faculty members, and non-teaching staff, including Mr. Md Imran Khan, Dr. Ozair, Dr. Mansoor Alam Siddiqui, Dr. Qurratul Aein Ali, Dr. Tarushikha Sarvesh, and Abdul Zabbar.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Mohammad Mohsin Khan emphasized the need for continued awareness and proactive measures to eliminate TB. He highlighted the role of youth and educators in spreading knowledge and ensuring that TB patients receive proper medical care without facing stigma or discrimination.
The event concluded with an interactive session, where students and attendees engaged with experts to discuss misconceptions about TB and the role of medical advancements in eradicating the disease. The NSS office expressed gratitude to all participants for their active involvement in making the event a success.
The World TB Day program at AMU once again underscored the importance of collective action in the fight against tuberculosis and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to public health awareness and social responsibility.
