Professor Maheshwari stated that JNMC treats patients referred from Deen Dayal Hospital, Aligarh, and described the allegations as baseless and unfair. She highlighted that JNMC provides healthcare services to approximately 4,000 to 4,500 patients daily from various districts and operates under government schemes such as the Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY), Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) scheme, Ayushman Bharat, and the National Health Mission (NHM).

She mentioned that in her 40 years of association with the institution, she has never witnessed any form of discrimination. During the COVID-19 pandemic, JNMC played a crucial role and was selected as one of the centers for Covaxin trials by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). The college was the first to enroll 1,000 volunteers for the vaccine trials, a milestone acknowledged by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The dedication of doctors and staff during the pandemic, with over 20 losing their lives, underscores the college’s unwavering commitment to public health and national service.

Professor Maheshwari also noted that under the Prime Minister’s Health Protection Scheme (PMSSY), JNMC’s Trauma Center provides high-level healthcare services at affordable rates, ensuring accessible healthcare for all without discrimination. Additionally, she highlighted the college’s significant role as a healthcare provider in the Aligarh region, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, when it operated as a Level-2 dedicated COVID hospital, receiving appreciation from the general public.
